New York City coach Jason Kreis insists there is "no truth" to speculation that Frank Lampard could extend his loan with Manchester City. Lampard scored the vital equaliser against former club Chelsea before netting a double in the 7-0 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday.
Reports emerged that the 36-year-old could extend his stay with City until the end of the Premier League season, with Manuel Pellegrini hinting that talks could be held to negotiate a new deal, but Kreis has poured cold water on the notion.
"There is no truth to that rumour at all," he said during a press conference on Wednesday.
Lampard signed with NYCFC in July before joining the Premier League champions on a half-season loan. He is scheduled to join the MLS expansion side for pre-season ahead of their inaugural 2015 campaign, assuming no extension with City - who own the newly-expanded club - is agreed.
"Frank will stay until January because until January he doesn't have anything to do in the United States because they are not working," Pellegrini told reporters this week. "In January we will see what is happening and we will make a decision then."
