ATP World Tour Finals: Novak Djokovic downs Tomas Berdych to seal semi-final spot in London

Novak Djokovic: Defeated Tomas Berdych to reach the last four
The win also ensured Djokovic wrapped up top spot in Group A and sealed his place in the semi-finals of the prestigious season-ending event at London's O2 where he will take on Japan's Kei Nishikori. A day after Roger Federer dropped only one game beating home favourite Andy Murray to win Group B, Djokovic was also in ruthless mood against the subdued Czech
.
He had lost only five games in his first two matches and continued his strong play against Berdych, who dropped his first two service games as the Serb took control from the baseline.
Djokovic again broke twice in the second set to stay unbeaten in the tournament.
The Serb has now won 30 indoor matches in succession since the ATP World Tour Finals in 2012.
Djokovic's main rival for a third straight Finals title seems certain to be Roger Federer, whose surge this season meant the battle for year-end number one went down to the wire.

On top

But, by winning the Paris Masters a fortnight ago, Djokovic knew three victories here would be enough for him to finish the season on top of the world for the third year out of the last four.
And there looked no danger of any other outcome as soon as he began the match against Berdych by winning six successive points.
The pair last met a month ago in Beijing, where Djokovic led 6-0 5-0 before Berdych managed to salvage two games.
The Czech said ahead of this clash he was hoping to win three or four games and, although it was accompanied by a smile, the suspicion was he was not joking.
Djokovic eased into a 4-0 lead but Berdych did at least manage to hold serve twice.
The second set followed exactly the same pattern, leaving Djokovic sitting pretty at the top of Group A and Stan Wawrinka needing only a set against Marin Cilic on Friday night to join him in the last four.
Djokovic knew exactly what the victory meant and celebrated exuberantly with his team
