Wenger denies latest fan abuse incident

Asenal manager Asene Wenger was unfazed by an incident in which a fan confronted him in his dugout towards the end of his side's 2-0 defeat to Southhamton.

With roughly 10 minutes left to play at St Mary's, a young supporter was dragged away by security after walking to the dugout and was understood to offer a rude gesture towards the Gunners boss and his assistant, Steve Bould, as well as reportedly aiming verbal insults.

Wenger, however, says that the fan was "not aggressive at all" and doubts that it was one of his own travelling supporters registering their displeasure.

"There was a young boy, yes," he told reporters after the game. "I think he was a Southampton fan. He was not aggressive at all. I don't think he said anything."

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman claimed not to have seen the incident.

With Arsenal struggling in the battle for Champions League qualification this season, a situation not helped by the Saints' victory on Thursday, and their title challenge already all but over, Wenger has already been the subject of abuse from the Gunners faithful.

In December, he was greeted with foul-mouthed shouting when boarding a train from Stoke after his side suffered a 3-2 defeat at the Britannia Stadium.
