AC Milan have unveiled plans to build a new 48,000-seater stadium which they hope to move into before the start of the 2018-19 season.
The Italian giants announced on their official website that they have made a bid for the land in the urban area of Portello in the city and revealed their designs have taken inspiration from several English stadiums.
The stadium will include a hotel, sports college, restaurants and children’s rides, with the club hoping it will be one of the most innovative arenas in world football.
"AC Milan are interested in the redevelopment of the Portello area of the city," a statement on their official website read.
"Evaluations of the offers will begin and Milan hopes it will lead to the creation of one of the most innovative stadiums in the world.
"It plans to hold 48,000 spectators with particular attention towards families, with the latest comforts and the best in security.
"The project takes its inspiration from the English model: a stadium that can be reached by public transport and by doing so encouraging fans to be more environmentally aware."
